Bible passage: Isaiah 53:12
Prophet: Isaiah
Written: Between 701-681 BC
In Isaiah 53:12, the prophet wrote about a servant (the Messiah) who would bear the sins of others and be punished side-by-side with criminals. Christians acknowledge that Isaiah's description of this servant was a prophecy that was fulfilled during the life of Jesus Christ. As explained in the book of Mark (Mark 15:27,28), Jesus, though sinless, was "numbered with the transgressors" and crucified along with two criminals.

Here is Isaiah 53:12:
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
